Monozygotic twins discordant for body stalk anomaly.
We report on two cases of monozygotic twins discordant for body stalk anomaly, diagnosed prenatally in a multicenter ultrasound screening study at 10-14 weeks of gestation. Ultrasound showed a large abdominal wall defect with most of the abdominal contents and almost half of the body in the celomic cavity, in association with severe kyphoscoliosis and a very short umbilical cord. Both pregnanci...

A policy of expectant management until 32 weeks of gestation in 29 dichorionic pregnancies discordant for growth retardation resulted in an overall mortality of 24% (95% CI 13.9-37.2%) and a handicap of 2.2% (95% CI 0-12.0%). None of the normally grown co-twins died or was handicapped as a result of iatrogenic prematurity.
متن کاملMinimally Conjoined Omphalopagus Twins with a Body Stalk Anomaly
Introduction This report will discuss a case of minimally conjoined omphalopagus twins (MCOTs) with a body stalk anomaly (BSA). Case Report We experienced monochorionic diamniotic (MD) twins born at 31 weeks. One infant was suspicious of BSA before birth, and another infant was normal. But normal infant had anal atresia with small intestine which was inserted behind the umbilicus. Twins had ver...
متن کاملBody stalk anomaly.
Body stalk anomaly is a severe body wall defect characterised by an absent or rudimentary umbilical cord, eventration of abdominal viscera, hindgut anomalies and severe skeletal deformities (1,2,3). It is a rare sporadic condition with an incidence of 0.07% in live bom infants (1). Body stalk anomaly was seen in two neonates born at term, who died within one hour of birth. One was a spon t ane...
متن کاملStillbirth in dichorionic twins discordant for major and minor anomaly, followed by asynchronous delivery - a rare occurrence. Case presentation.
The single stillbirth long-term intrauterine retention in dichorionic twin pregnancy is rarely reported. Also, the birth of a fetus is followed in most cases by immediate expulsion of the second twin. We hereby present an unusual case of asynchronous delivery of dichorionic twins, associating discordance for major and minor anomaly. The intrauterine death of the twin A, presenting a large sacro...
